Your associate degree is a big accomplishment, but it doesn’t have to be the end of your journey.

If you have completed, or are close to completing, an associate degree, continuing toward a bachelor’s degree can help you build on the credits, knowledge, and experience you have already earned. The good news is that you may not have to start over or travel far to keep moving forward.

At the University Center of Lake County, you can explore bachelor’s degree completion programs from university partners while staying right here in Lake County.

Build on What You’ve Already Earned

An associate degree can provide a strong foundation for continued education. Depending on the program and university, many of your completed college credits may transfer toward a bachelor’s degree.

Instead of viewing the associate degree as the finish line, think of it as a stepping stone. Your general education courses and introductory classes may already satisfy part of the requirements for a four-year degree, allowing you to focus more heavily on courses within your major.

Before transferring, it is important to speak with an academic advisor and review how your credits will apply to the program you are considering.

You Don’t Have to Navigate the Transfer Process Alone

Transferring can feel complicated, especially when every university has different requirements. That is why having guidance can make a difference.

The University Center of Lake County helps prospective students explore degree options offered by its university partners and connect with the right resources to plan their next step.

Whether you recently earned your associate degree, are preparing to graduate, or have been away from school for a few years, there may be a pathway that works for you.

Your Associate Degree Was the First Step. What Comes Next?

You have already put in the work to earn college credits and move closer to your goals. A bachelor’s degree can be the next step in building on that progress.

Explore programs available through the University Center of Lake County, speak with an advisor, and discover how you can continue your education close to home.

Your next degree may be closer than you think.
