UIC installs new plaque at the University Center of Lake County

The University Center of Lake County continues to expand pathways for Lake County residents to complete high-quality degrees close to home. One of our strongest partnerships is with the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), a nationally recognized public research university known for its academic excellence, diversity, and strong professional programs.


We proudly welcomed representatives from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Applied Health Sciences for the installation of their new program plaque at our campus.


This plaque highlights UIC’s Health Information Management (HIM) offerings at University Center, solidifying our shared mission to expand accessible, high-quality education opportunities for students across Lake County.


About UIC Health Information Management Programs at University Center of Lake County


UIC brings two highly respected programs from its College of Applied Health Sciences directly to the University Center:




UIC’s 100% online Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) completion program was designed to prepare graduates to take the prestigious Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam.


A transfer-friendly, career-focused program that prepares students to manage health data, support healthcare systems, and work in roles such as:

  • Health Information Analyst

  • Medical Data Specialist

  • Compliance or coding professional

  • Electronic Health Record coordinator (EHHR)

Students gain hands-on experience with health data systems, privacy standards, cybersecurity principles in healthcare, and analytics used across hospitals, clinics, and public health agencies.



Master of Science in Health Information Management (MS in HIM)

The 100% online asynchronous Master of Science in Health Information Management (MSHIM) program curriculum encompasses medical records, use and storage of patient data, coding, and leadership. Learn how to manage healthcare data and information resources. ( The 39-credit hour program at University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Applied Health Sciences and can be completed in 20 months.)


Designed for advancing professionals, this graduate-level program deepens expertise in:
