Certificate in Conflict Management

Organizations and corporations are more regularly turning to formal processes for conflict management and dispute resolution. This fast-growing field of study and practice examines the causes of conflict, conflict theory, and how to manage conflict as part of team-building and negotiation within and on behalf of your company. In this certificate program, you will gain skills in negotiation and mediation, develop new strategies and techniques for addressing your current negotiation challenges, and learn to effectively lead and manage change. Upon completion of the certificate, you'll be prepared apply the principles of respectful communication in your work, lead your organization in developing diversity as a way of creating value, and negotiate effectively.

Admission Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • Completed application, essay, and current resume

  • Two completed recommendations

  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended

  • No GMAT or GRE required if cumulative GPA is above 3.0. Also waived if applicant has a graduate degree from an accredited institution or completes their first 5 SBNM courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Transfer Policy

Up to 4 courses (8 sh) from an accredited graduate program. Also, up to 2 core courses may be waived if taken at the undergraduate level with a grade of "B" or higher.

Special Characteristics

  • An array of online graduate certificates is designed to provide managers and leaders with a pragmatic education that addresses the special concerns and problems of managing in a rapidly changing world. All coursework may be applied to any of North Park's five graduate management degrees, including the MBA.

  • Courses can also be taken at the main campus on the north side of Chicago.
