Bachelor of Arts in Psychology - EIU

Our program prepares students for graduate programs related to psychology and for psychology-related jobs requiring a bachelor's degree. We are transfer-friendly and fully accredited.

Admission Requirements

Transfer student admission:



Psychology Major:

  • College Algebra or higher-level math course (with a C or better) or an ACT math score of at least 26, or SAT Math score of 610.

  • Introductory Psychology with a C or better.

  • Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Sciences (A.S.) preferred but not required. Students without an A.A./ A.S. should have a minimum of 24, semester hours of transfer credit, including ENG 1001G, ENG 1002G, and CMS 1310G, and meet the general education foreign language requirement.

Transfer Policy

Students can transfer as many courses as they wish, but must meet the following minimum requirements to graduate from EIU:


  • 40 or more semester hours in upper-division courses (3000-4000 numbered courses)

  • 42 or more semester hours at EIU; 32 or more in the junior and senior years, and 12 at EIU during the senior year

  • 12 or more semester hours in Psychology at EIU

Special Characteristics

Students in the online program have the same opportunities to participate in internships and other integrative learning experiences. The online program provides the same quality and content as face-to-face classes.
